Treating abandoned foal for parasites

Poor itchy Eggsy, you may remember he had an infestation of equine lice when he was abandoned not only making him uncomfortable but causing bald patches and sore skin.

Nasty huh? Anyway the good news is that fur is growing back following treatment for lice and of course Eggsy is much more comfortable now.

He has also had his wormer which he took like a good little boy, in fact we think he rather liked the taste!

Eggsy has a ko-fi page to help raise funds toward his care , we'd be really grateful if you'd go take a look, share it far and wide via your social media and of course if you can spare some money please donate.

Equine abandonment notices ~ times up

No one came forward to claim Eggsy so under Section 7B and 7C of the Animals Act 1971, as introduced by the Control of Horses Act 2015 ownership passes to the person detaining the equine, who may then retain ownership, or see that they are re-homed, sold, or humanely destroyed.

Eggsy has a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for his care, we'd be really grateful if you'd go take a look, share it far and wide via your social media and of course if you can spare some money please donate.

Abandoned pony Eggsy has a problem

Eggsy has a problem, he isn't very good on his legs as you can see he is inclined to stand in rather awkward positions.

Worryingly he is exhibiting "sticky stifle" tendencies in walk after standing for a while, this resolves when he gets going. and like any foal he loves to run and buck.

Can you help Eggsy Pony by buying him a "coffee" all coffee money goes toward Eggsy's feed and other essential care

Feeding Eggsy the abandoned pony

When you've been half starved and then left to fend for yourself through abandonment food becomes very important. Well let's be honest here eating is a horse's favourite thing to do and Eggsy is very keen on his hard feeds.

Eggsy is, not surprisingly, underweight for a 7 month old Gypsy Cob and needs building up gradually. He is currently on 3 small feeds a day comprising of soaked beet, pony nuts and chaff as well as haylage and of course grass.

He relishes his food and eats it all up, making sure to lick his bucket clean then he asks for more.

Would you like to help feed Eggsy?

If you buy Eggsy a "coffee" on Ko-fi the money will be spent on feed for him, "coffee" = food!

Pony abandoned in poor condition

Photographs don't really show the poor condition this foal was found in, that shaggy winter coat hides a lot.

He is very underweight and probably worm riddled.

Covered in lice,

and a bit knocked about in places, thankfully there are no deep wounds.

Abandoned Pony

Meet "Eggsy"

He was abandoned sometime around the 28th May when his owners had their other ponies transported to a livery yard before moving house.

Dumped, we don't know where, like the rubbish they threw in a nearby dyke.

He'd been on his own for over a week before we found him dehydrated, starving and covered in lice.

Would you like to help Eggsy?

Yes, thank you that's so kind: He has a Ko-fi page where you can buy him a "coffee" though of course ponies don't drink coffee so the money is spent on his food and essential care.
