Worming Eggsy the rescue pony

Winter de-worming against encysted small redworm is an essential part of horsekeeping, in their encysted state small red worms do not show up in a worm count. An over burden can cause damage to the intestinal wall which will prevent the absorption of nutrients and can cause diarrhoea. Plus a large number of small worms emerging from their cysts all at the same time can cause a horse to colic.

As it's also tapeworm de-wormer time we chose Equest Pramox horse wormer, this is a combination wormer that contains both Moxidectin for the encysted small redworm and Praziquental which controls all three types of equine tapeworm. Equest Pramox also treats the other types of equine worms eg. strongyles and ascarids plus bots which are actually the larvae of the botfly.

You'll be pleased to know that Eggsy was an absolute gentleman about taking his wormer which is great as not all equines are!

Many thanks Bronwyn for sponsoring Eggsy's wormer.

Thanks are also due to Elizabeth Love, Christine King, Liz Kettley and our anonymous friend for their kind donations towards Eggsy's essential care.

About Eggsy:

Eggsy is a rescue pony he was abandoned and left to starve by his owners as a foal. His care is funded by donations.

Would you like to help Eggsy?

Eggsy has a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for his care, we'd be really grateful if you'd go take a look, share it far and wide via your social media and of course if you can spare some money please donate.
