A milestone for Eggsy's Help raise abandoned foal GoFundMe
We're absolutely delighted to report that Eggsy's GoFundMe has reached £1000 thanks to additional donations from Norfolk Bea, Danielle & an anonymous donation.
He's due to be wormed again in early December and of course there are regular visits from the farrier.
A few months ago I was pretty much in despair as to how I could possible afford to keep this little chap who had been so badly used by fickle humans. No one was interested in re-homing him because of his locking stifles and I was actually advised to have him put down because, wait for this, "He's unsaleable". But now because of each and every one of you who has helped spread his story and donated to his care Eggsy is thriving.
Don't ever forget, because we won't, it is through your generosity that Eggsy has a life,

Eggsy has a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for his care, we'd be really grateful if you'd go take a look, share it far and wide via your social media and of course if you can spare some money please donate.

That's 56% of the target raised in 4 months by 36 people!
Thanks to all of you Eggsy has gone from this poor little scrap of an abandoned foal
to this fine young chap
He's legal now having been microchipped & passported,
he's had his anti- tetanus vaccinations,
the cost of his gelding is covered when he is ready for the op.
So now we just need to get him through the winter with plenty of this
haylage
and his hard feeds
which we all know Eggsy pony is very keen on!

Abandoned foal Eggsy's GoFundMe ~ How's it doing?
It's been ages since we did an update on the progress of Eggsy's GoFundMe campaign and there is quite a lot to report, 54% of Eggsy's target has been raised!
So many people (and sheep, thank you Emma) have rallied to help Eggsy, many thanks to all who have helped spread the word via Twitter (you'll find Eggsy's Twitter here @eggsypony ) & Facebook, and of course to those who have kindly donated:
Brady
Tail End Jewellery the place to go for horse hair jewellery
Claire from Field Fare foods who tweets Eggsy's cause every single day
Norfolk Bea of the Holt Bird Cafe Shop
Vanessa
Karen from the Leicestershire and Rutland Gardens Trust
Alexandra a member of the Twitter Herd who planned the Canter with Santa campaign
Lisa
Liz
Rory
Pauline
Helen who specifically asked that her donation be used to pay for Eggsy's tetanus vaccination
and of course our very own designer of rugs & provider of sheep photographs (see above) Eleonore of Marburger Pferdchen
Many, many thanks to all of you, including those who prefer to remain anonymous, we couldn't have got this far without your help.

Eggsy the abandoned foal and the green rug ~ a lesson in trust
Back in September we showed you the wonderful fleecy rugs gifted to Eggsy by Eleonore of Marburger Pferdchen with the promise of a post about the green pullover rug. Well here it is!

Having willingly modeled his new blue fleece rug for us Eggsy was reluctant to play dressing up again and took off to hide amongst the trees.
We gave him plenty time to examine this new article of clothing which would need to be pulled over his head, something our little chap had never experienced before.
And then very carefully the rug was placed on Eggsy
and slowly pulled around his ears
over his face
and around his neck.
Here he is checking it out
and once he realized that he could walk around as usual
Eggsy was quite happy to model his new green pullover rug for the photographs and
show off the innovative roll neck design that will keep him warm and snuggly on the coldest of days. Once again Eleonore thank you so much for your kindness.

Canter with Santa to raise funds for abandoned and orphaned foals
The TwitterHerd, a group of horse enthusiasts who take part in chats on Twitter in the evening have got together with Equestrian Hoodies to raise money for rescue equines this Christmas.
Both the Come Canter with Santa jumper or hoodie pages on Equestrian Hoodies website have a link to a Just Giving page to raise £400 for rescue equines, to be divided equally between Eggsy and Bodmin Moorland Pony Rehabilitation a non profit horse rescue that is often asked to take in foals orphaned by road traffic accidents on the moor.
So if you're in the market for a Christmas sweater this year either for yourself or as a gift you might like to consider Equestrian Hoodies Come canter with Santa range and maybe make a donation too.
Of course if you prefer you can go straight to the Just Giving page and make a donation, no purchase necessary !
Eggsy's own GoFundMe remains open.

Remember the horses
The British Army used 1.2 million horses and mules in World War 1, it's believed that 484,000 died in battle, most never returned to the land of their birth with many of the survivors being sold off for meat or a life of hard labour.
Don't ever forget that.
"Wherever man has left his footprints in the long ascent from barbarism to civilization,
we find the hoofprint of a horse beside it."
we find the hoofprint of a horse beside it."

First tetanus booster for abandoned foal Eggsy
Just to let everyone know Eggsy had his tetanus booster six weeks after the first vaccination, he was a very good boy for the vet and didn't even flinch.
So that's it for vaccinations until next year when he will require another tetanus shot.
For now Eggsy doesn't need the equine flu vaccination as he and his companions don't come into contact with other equines who could possibly infect them with the virus. Should that situation change eg. if we decided to take Eggsy to a show sometime in the future then he would require the flu vac as well.
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to Eggsy's care, we wouldn't have got this far without you all.
